Abstract

요약
본 연구는 원격 진단시스템에서 필름 스캐너를 이용하여 의료영상을 디지탈화할때 가장
적절한 해상도와 압축방법을 결정하기 위해 시도되었다. 비정상 소견을 보이는 12장의 파노
라마방사선사진을 transparency unit가 부착된 Umax사의 Powerlook flatbed scanner를 사
용하여 각각 50dpi, 75dpi, 1506pi, 3006pj, 6006pi, 12006Di의 해상도로 스캔하여, 각 해상도
의 영상의 상대적인 판독능을 산출하였고, JPEG 압축의 maximum quality, high quality,
cuddle quality, low duality로 압축하여, 눈으로 인지 가능한 질의 저하가 있는지 여부와 있
는 경우 그것이 진단학적 중요성이 있는지 여부를 평가하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다.
1. 3006pi, 6006pi, 1200dpi 로 스캔한 영상군에서 상대적 판독능이 100%로,실제 파노라마
방사선사진과 동일한 판독능을 보였다.
2. JPEG압축에서 low quality로 압축시 모든 파일에서 인지가능한 질의 저하가 있었고,
12례 중 8례가 진단학적 중요성이 있는 질의 저하로 평가되었고, middle quality 로 압축시
12례중 3례에서 인지가능한 질의 저하가 있었으나, 진단학적 중요성은 없었다.
이상의 연구결과로 미루어 보아 원격 진단시스템에서 필름 스캐너를 이용하여 의료영상을
디지탈화할때 필름과 대등한 판독능을 보이면서, 영상파일의 용량이 최소인 가장 적절한 해
상도는 300dpi이며, 진단학적 중요성이 있는 질의저하를 야기하지 않는 압축방법은 middle
quality의 JPEG압축으로 판단된다.

This study was performed to determine the adequate resolution and compression
method in teleradiology. A digital imaging system using Mackintosh Ⅱ ci computer, 1
5° Sony high resolution RGB monitor, Umaxpowerlook flatbed scanner with
transparency unit and 12 panoramic radiographs were used.
The results were as follows :
1. Relative detectability at the group scanned by 300dpi, 600dpi and 1200dpi was same
as those at the real Panoramic radiographs.
2. Perceivable image Quality degradation was found at the 25% of midge quality of
JPEG compression. But those were not diagnostically significant.
3. Perceivable image quality degradation was found at the 100% of low quality of
JPEG compression. And 8 cases among them were diagnostically significant.
On the basis of the above results, it is considered that the adequate resolution in
scanning radiographs for teleradiology is 3006pi and compression method is the middle
qulity of JPEG compression.
