Abstract

Precision attachments are sometimes employed to enhance retention and stability in the construction of overdentures. There are three main types of attachment used for overdentures : bar, studs, and magnets. Retention is achieved either mechanically as in the case of bars and stud attachments or magnetically with the use of rare earth magnets and keepers. Stability of the prosthess is improved with the increased height of the mechanical attachments.
