Abstract

Dental insurance for the implant and denture gets raising interests among clinicians as the elderly aged over 65 can be covered by national health insurance service. This case showed an alternative option for the treatment of partially edentulous patient aged over 65. Conventionally, ligating the natural teeth and dental implant in fixed prosthesis such as bridge was not recommended. However, the authors tried novel method using dental implant prosthesis as an abutment for the removable partial denture together with natural teeth. By using implant as an abutment for removable partial denture, both the implant and partial denture can be covered by insurance. Moreover, placing implant in partially edentulous area provides an additional stability and retention for removable partial denture. In follow up period, the patient didn¡¯t show any discomfort during mastication or everyday life. Moreover, as we can cover both the implant and denture treatment by insurance, the patient was satisfied even more.
