Abstract

The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for establishing an outpatient anesthesia care system that would enable patients with disabilities who are unable to receive general dental care to be more comfortable and efficient by analyzing the outpatient general anesthesia patient who visited Chonnam National University Dental Hospital. This study included patients who underwent dental treatment with outpatient treatment under general anesthesia at the dental clinic for the disabled of Chonnam National National University Dental Hospital from July 2011 to April 2019. A total of 417 patients were treated with a total of 851 dental treatments on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. In this study, the most frequent age group is twenties (56.0%). The male (67.9%) was more than female (32.1%). Most patients in this study lived in Gwangju (55.9%) and Jeollanam-do (42.2%). The treatment which patients received was dental caries treatment (39.6%), followed by extraction (11.5%). The dental treatment under general anesthesia has many advantages including reduction of mental and economic burden on patients and their guardians more than dental treatment using several sedation methods.
